Glynndora Smith Obituary

Matthews, North Carolina

May 11, 1961 - March 21, 2024

Glynndora Smith was born to Libby Smith on May 11, 1961, in Jamaica, Queens NYC.

She was employed by the United States Postal Service for 17 years as a Postal Worker before she was able to retire early and pursue her true passion for creating lasting memories through her craft business - Ms Crafty Dee.

Known to most as Mama Dee, Nu-Nu, Dee or Dora- she was able touch countless lives with her unique and amazing talent for personal art. No matter the occasion, Mama Dee would design, build, craft and deliver unique and exquisite pieces of art to ensure that any event was indeed special. Designing pieces for family, friends, and clients all over the country.

Despite her unique talents, what stood out the most about Mama Dee was her ability to connect with people. She was truly loved and appreciated by all those who crossed paths with her. Be it her humor (and she was hilarious),her deep care and empathy for others, or her ability to relate to others-Mama Dee was just as unique as the precious art that she created.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in adulthood.

Glynndora Smith departed this life on March 21, 2024. She was preceded in death by her brother David Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Natasha Smith, Amiyra Davis, and Tanisha Roberts; grandchildren, Dakeim Smith, Ashanti Spells, Mekhi Smith, Tamyra McLarty, Bryce McLarty, Malik Cathcart, Messiah Cathcart, Kobe Roberts, London Roberts, and Nyla Roberts; mother, Libby Smith; sisters, Sheila, Martha and Mary; partner of 21 years, Jim McDonald; cousins, Denise Reeves, Cheryl Albury, Nicholas (Nicky) Grant, and Kevin and Teresa Daughtry; and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved family and friends.
